This is considered the company’s first space tourism flight. As of May 19, more than 5,200 people from 136 countries participated in the bidding to buy tickets. The highest bid as of May 20 was 2.8 million USD (equivalent to 65 billion VND).
Accordingly, the proceeds from the auction of seats on the spaceship of the rocket company Blue Origin will go to the “Club for the Future” fund. This is a Blue Origin fund used to contribute to the advancement of life in space as well as to inspire the next generations to pursue scientific research.
The auction took place from 5/5 with the records sealed. Although the bidding packages were closed on May 19, you can still register to bid on Blue Origin’s website if you bid more than $ 2.8 million. The final stage of this auction will be held online on June 12.
Reportedly, the journey of this 60-foot long spacecraft will last for 11 minutes and be launched to an altitude of more than 100km above the Earth’s surface. The starting point is a desert in western Texas, USA.
The passenger compartment only has a maximum of 6 seats and is located at the top of the rocket. The spaceship’s cabin also has windows for passengers to enjoy a panoramic view of space. When it reaches the right height, the ship will separate from the turbocharger and re-enter the atmosphere, deploying a parachute so the passengers can land safely. Therefore, passengers will experience the feeling of zero gravity for a few minutes before returning to Earth.
Before commercial operation, the company Blue Origin had 15 test flights for the New Shepard spacecraft with dummy. New Shepard’s most recent successful flight was on April 14.
