On 11/11/1998, the Politburo issued Notice of Conclusion No. 179-TB/TW, setting development orientation in a new period, creating an important turning point for the tourism industry. On that basis, the State Steering Committee on Tourism was first established. The Tourism Ordinance and later, the Tourism Law were passed. The program to support investment in tourism infrastructure development and the National Action Program on Tourism have been approved and implemented nationwide. Vietnam’s tourism has stopped the decline, restored and maintained a high growth rate, gradually integrated regional and international tourism, actively contributing to the renewal of the country, creating an ideal premise. Since then, many mechanisms and policies have been implemented at all levels from the central to local levels, attracting investment, improving technical facilities and tourism infrastructure, diversifying products, enhancing tourism and improving tourism. brand, creating a breakthrough development for the tourism industry in the new era.
According to Decree No. 09/ND-CP dated August 8, 2007, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism follows the policy of organizing a multi-sectoral and multi-field ministry. Up to now, the state management apparatus for tourism at the central level has the General Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; In the locality, there are 13 Departments of Tourism, 49 Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism and 01 Department of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism.
