Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee has issued Resolution No. 03-NQ/TU on developing Dien Bien tourism to 2025, with orientation to 2030. Statistics show that, in the period of 2016 – 2020, Dien Bien tourism has welcomed 3 million visitors, an increase of 52% compared to the period 2011 – 2015. Total revenue from tourists reached VND 4,800 billion, an increase of 133% compared to the period. period 2011 – 2015; Value added tourism services accounted for 5.78% of the province’s GRDP.

On the basis of effectively exploiting potentials and advantages associated with conserving and preserving ethnic cultural identities, historical relics, protecting and improving the ecological environment, improving material and spiritual life. According to the resolution, by 2025, the province strives to increase the proportion of added value of tourism service industries to about 10% of GRDP; the average number of days of stay of tourists in Dien Bien is from 3 days or more; the average growth rate of visitors is 15%/year and total revenue from tourism activities increases by 15%/year on average.
