During the period from May 14 to May 17, the number of domestic passengers at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports decreased by 80% compared to the peak period of April 30 to May 1.
According to the Airport of Vietnam (ACV), in the context of the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic, the number of flights and the number of passengers passing through the port decreased sharply right after the peak week of April 30 to May 1.
Specifically, Tan Son Nhat airport welcomed 18,367 passengers on May 13, 18,051 passengers on May 14, 17,791 passengers on May 15, 19,650 passengers on May 16. This number is much lower than on April 29 when serving 108,451 guests.

In particular, the number of passengers passing through Noi Bai airport has decreased by 80% since the beginning of May and is expected to continue to decrease in the coming days. During the peak day of April 29, Noi Bai airport served 540 flights with 79,000 passengers/day. However, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the average output is only 200 flights/day, the passenger volume is 15,000/day.
The lowest point is 2 days 12/5 and 13/5 when Noi Bai airport only recorded 90 domestic flights with 9,000 passengers. Accordingly, Noi Bai airport received 8,726 passengers on May 14, 6,945 passengers on May 15, 10,500 passengers on May 16.
Due to the absence of passengers and ensuring the efficient operation of flights as well as the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, Noi Bai International Airport temporarily adjusted the operation plan. All flights at lobby E will be transferred to lobby A and lobby B, passenger terminal T1 from May 17.
The lobby A area of T1 terminal will be arranged for airlines such as: Vietjet Air operates 14 check-in counters from A01 – A14, Bamboo Airways operates 15 counters from counters A15 – A29, Viettravel Airlines is flexibly arranged arrange 3 counters from counters A30 – A32 when the airline needs.
The lobby B area of T1 terminal will be arranged for airlines such as: Pacific Airlines operating 4 check-in counters from B15 – B18. Vietnam Airlines and Vasco are allocated 28 counters from B1 – B14, B19 – B32.
Currently, Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports are tightening epidemic prevention and control measures such as deploying medical declarations using QR Codes, supplementing medical supplies as well as arranging workers to work distances, organize hold meetings online.
